20 Years of the Rye Field

Exhibition Opening

A flowering rye field in the former border strip symbolises the cycle of life, peace, hope and the power of nature. The art project on the grounds of the Berlin Wall Memorial has become a living part of the memorial landscape on Bernauer Strasse as a biotope in its own right. Because various actors and institutions have continued to get involved over the years, the original art project has grown into a multi-layered co-operation.

To mark this special project, the exhibition '20th Anniversary of the Field of Rye - Symbol of Life in the Former Border Strip' honours the commitment of many at the intersection of art, ecology, history, spirituality and politics in the heart of the capital.

Welcoming words:

  • Prof Dr Axel Klausmeier, Berlin Wall Foundation
  • Michael Spengler, Atelier denkwerk
  • Dr Christina Roß, Humboldt University of Berlin
  • Anton Blöth, Friedensbrot e.V.
  • Thomas Jeutner, Church Community at Gesundbrunnen

Afterwards there will be an opportunity for discussion and dialogue in the exhibition.
