The Berlin Wall Foundation has been entrusted with the development of a new memorial site at the former Checkpoint Charlie. It will be built directly at the intersection of Friedrichstrasse and Zimmerstrasse and will be dedicated to the historic site and the Cold War as the international dimension of the Berlin Wall. The state of Berlin bought back two plots of land here in 2023 and secured them permanently. The project team is now developing the concept for the future "Forum Checkpoint Charlie".
