Between 1961 and 1989, at least 140 people lost their lives at the Berlin Wall. This interactive map highlights locations throughout the city that commemorate these victims. Each marker indicates a location associated with the circumstances of a death or the victim. The victims include refugees and their relatives, civilians, and East German border guards who lost their lives while attempting to cross the Wall, during border checks, or as a result of the border regime.
