Spot on: Where Exactly Was the Border?
Short guided tours
The East Side Gallery is an open-air gallery on the longest surviving section of the Berlin Wall. The tours will begin every half an hour and shed light on how the “East Side Gallery” was created in 1990, painted by 118 artists from 21 countries and now one of Berlin’s best known tourist attractions.
In a walk along preserved remnants of the former border strip, guides will show how the Wall was kept secure and what traces of division remain visible to this day.
A look at some specific murals will show how the images have changed over the last 35 years and the challenges of preserving this unique historical site. The tours also invite participants to have a conversation about originality, restoration and remembrance culture.
This offer is part of the special program marking 65 years since the construction of the Berlin Wall.
