A vision for the future - Painting at the East Side Gallery

Painting together with artist Shay Tova Govhary

27 September 2025 11:00–15:00

The East Side Gallery was created as a collaborative work by more than 100 artists who often met for the first time while painting. The murals at the East Side Gallery depict the hopes and concerns of the artists during the turbulent year of 1990. They tell of gaining freedom, dealing with political repression, and experiencing social upheaval. Thirty-five years later, this open workshop explores the thoughts and messages of that time and the visions of the future held by people today. How do I imagine my future? What freedoms and limitations do I experience?

We invite you to join other visitors in painting a picture of your hopes and messages for the future. Artist Shay Tova Govhary will accompany you in the project of designing a 10-meter-long canvas — join in the painting and engage in conversation with each other.
