The Exhibition in the Watchtower at Kieler Eck

The exhibition “From Günter Litfin to Chris Gueffroy” was created by Jürgen Litfin and is dedicated to all victims of the Berlin Wall. Jürgen Litfin made the exhibition, which opened in 2003, for his brother, Günter Litfin, who was the first person to be killed by gunfire at the Berlin Wall. After the Wall fell in 1989, Jürgen Litfin became involved in an effort to preserve the tower that stood near the site of his brother’s death. He founded an association and made the tower publicly accessible in 2003. The exhibition presents documents, photographs and newspaper clippings that Jürgen Litfin collected about the Wall, Günter Litfin’s death, his efforts to preserve the memory of his brother and save the watchtower from demolition. With the exception of minor repair work carried out in 2021, the exhibition remains unchanged today.
