Overview Tour: Parliament of Trees (English)

There is an unusual garden in the middle of Berlin: In 1990, artist Ben Wagin created the Parliament of Trees by beginning to plant the former border strip of the Berlin Wall opposite the Reichstag, thus creating a memorial to the victims of the Berlin Wall and a monument against war and violence. The installation includes trees, evidence of the former border installations, pictures and texts. Names of the victims of the Wall are inscribed on granite slabs. The guided tour focuses on the artist Ben Wagin, his life and work and provides an overview of the creation and development of the creative and unique memorial.
